Chimney maintenance by RVP Gevelonderhoud
We make, fit and maintain chimney caps. That also covers cleaning and impregnating the chimney itself and repairing cracks in the brickwork. A chimney stands exposed all year round and needs maintenance because of it.
We often combine chimney work with the facade. The scaffolding or lift is up anyway, and the chimney is usually where the most damage is. The lead and sealant work around the chimney is taken care of at the same time.

Why the chimney fails first
The chimney catches rain from every side and has no roof overhang to protect it. In frost, absorbed moisture expands and pushes the joint outwards. That is why this is usually the first part of a house where you see damage.
A made-to-measure cap keeps rain out of the flue and saves years of maintenance. During the survey we look at the cap, the pointing, the cracks and the lead, and tell you what needs doing now and what can wait.
