What is it?

Pointing repair by RVP Gevelonderhoud

Moisture makes brickwork crack and bricks work loose. Repairing the pointing in time prevents structural problems later on. After cleaning the facade we repair the joints where needed, in preparation for impregnation.

In most cases pointing repair can be matched well to the original colour. Completely invisible repair is rare and depends heavily on the original mortar mix. We tell you up front what to expect.

  • Colour-matched repair
  • Prevents structural damage
  • The basis for impregnation
  • Honest about the result

Sequence and drying time

Pointing repair always happens after cleaning. Pointing a dirty facade means sealing the dirt in. After the repair, two weeks of drying time are needed before the facade can be impregnated.

On facades with damaged pointing or cracking, no local guarantee can be given on the impregnation. We point those areas out during the survey so you know where you stand.

HOW WE WORK

Our approach

01

Survey of the pointing

We look at where the joint has worn away, works loose or shows cracks.

02

Cleaning

The facade is cleaned first, otherwise you seal dirt in behind the new pointing.

03

Rake out and repoint

The failed pointing is removed and reapplied to match the colour.

04

Drying and finishing

Two weeks of drying, after which the facade can be impregnated.
